Every working woman needs a jacket or 20 in her wardrobe. It is and should be a staple in any professional woman’s wardrobe. Why? A jacket is very versatile. It can be dressed up or down. Whether you’re going for a casual, formal or in-between look, a jacket can achieve all three. What makes it even more awesome is that it can be worn all year round. Autumn, Winter, Spring or Summer, jackets are always and will always be on trend. Difference between Jacket and Blazer What’s the difference between a jacket

The much anticipated GTBank Fashion Weekend is finally over and I’m going to give you the lowdown. Everything from the good, the bad and the ugly. I  had two weeks to plan my two outfits for the two days of GTBank Fashion Weekend and I felt like I wanted to create two very different looks. What’s the point of fashion if you’re not going to have fun with it?  If you want to see how I styled my two looks, keep on reading.  😉 The Good  GTBank Fashion Weekend was not

Fashion Week is a big deal worldwide. The most recognised of them are Paris Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week. Fast on the heels of Milan Fashion Week is Africa Fashion International. Not as popular as the other fashion weeks but popular enough on the continent. With Africa being home to some of the fastest growing economies in the world, it is no wonder that the fashion industry is booming and hopefully soon, we’ll be able to have the same notoriety as the

I believe it was Coco Chanel who said: “Old clothes are old friends”.  I can completely relate to this because just as old clothes are old friends, new clothes are new friends. My dad tells me all the time that I have too many clothes. I, on the other hand, don’t think I have enough. What woman does?! Each item of clothing in my wardrobe has a special meaning to me. They hold special memories like the dress I wore on my first date with an ex, the shirt and

What is style? Style is not fashion, it does not buy into trends.  Style is an extension of yourself; knowing who you are and dressing to complement your body shape and personality. Style comes naturally to some while others have to learn it.  I’d like to think that my style has evolved over the years. Gone are the days when I would go OTT (Over The Top) and match my accessories with my outfit. For instance, if I carried a pink purse, then my earring, shoes and watch also had to

Ha!  Did my title catch your attention? I thought it would. I may be stressed but I’m not depressed. I stay well-dressed though, that’s nothing new. 😉 I know I’ve been absent on here for a whole month and for that I am sorry.  I  sometimes get into that space where I feel overwhelmed and stressed out because I have lots to do and don’t know where to start. I have since learnt that you start by starting. I even posted an image of this exact saying on my Instagram

To be fashion-forward is to be interested in fashion and wearing things that will soon become very fashionable. A fashion-forward person is not afraid to take risks and set trends. Sometimes it can be a miss and other times it can be a hit. At the core of my being is a fashion designer. I can’t draw/sketch to save my life but I can think of creative clothing styles (in my head) that are simple and ready-to-wear. I’m really good when it comes to altering existing clothing designs. Take this boyfriend jeans

Hello, Spring! It’s September which means it’s spring which also means it is my birthday month – ring the alarm! As we all know, the beginning of a new season is the perfect excuse to get a wardrobe update. And this season, florals, bright colours, frills, and ruffles is what’s trending. Tís the season to be a woman! Without further ado,  I’ve compiled a list of 7 dresses to wear this season that’ll help you stay on trend. Whether you love colour, maxi dresses, the off-shoulder look or you just

Ah, trends! Whether you love it or hate it, you can’t deny its existence. If you know anything about fashion and trends,  it is that it’s always recycled. You will also most likely know that trends come and go – bell bottoms today, skinny jeans tomorrow. The average life cycle of a trend is three to four months, it changes with the season. I’ve always been averse to trends because it encourages a fashion slave mentality. A fashion slave mentality is a breeding ground for capitalism. You just keep acquiring and

Hair has always been a ‘thing’ for me. Just like a great outfit, a good hairdo can help to bolster your confidence. When your hair looks good, you feel good and when it doesn’t, you don’t. Sometime last year, I decided to start wearing wigs instead of weaves. I noticed that relaxing my hair and the strain on my hair from weaves was damaging. Uneven hair, receding hairline and weak ends were just some of my struggles. But since I started wearing wigs, my life has changed for the better.
