Let me start by wishing you a happy new year. May you razzle, sparkle and dazzle this year, 2018.

We’ve all heard of ‘New Year, New me’ but what we almost never hear is new wardrobe although this should go hand in hand, don’t you think? How are you going to claim new me with an outdated wardrobe? You can’t, you just can’t!

If you claim New Year, new me then you have to add new wardrobe to the mix. Maybe even new hair too but that’s a post for another day.

I’m getting older (I guess we all are because we sure aren’t getting younger) and I’ve just recently changed profession and with that came the urge to update and improve my wardrobe. I’m building up my wardrobe to include 80% classy, timeless pieces. Clothing items that reflect the grown, sophisticated woman that I am.

In just under a month, I have given away four bin bags worth of clothes, shoes and accessories. The cleanse/ decluttering started just before I left Nigeria to return to South Africa and believe it or not, it has been cathartic.

There is something refreshing about clearing out your wardrobe. Just think about it as getting rid of the old to make room for the new improved. And with the new year, no one wants to hold on to old baggage.

I went into H&M just under a week ago and my eyes lit up when I saw this sheer cotton candy pink blouse. The stylist in me immediately picked it up and began to look around for bottoms that would complement it. Not just one but three bottoms.

My thought process each and every time I pick out an outfit is “how else can I wear this?” I absolutely love being able to wear clothing in different ways. Where’s the fun in wearing the same outfit, the same way each time you wear it?

If you had to pick, which of these three looks would you wear? Look 1, 2 or 3?

These pieces are limited editions and are available for a short time only at H&M stores.

NB: If you too are clearing out your wardrobe, you can drop off any unwanted garments at your nearest H&M store and they’ll recycle or reuse.
