On Wednesdays We Wear Pink

I don’t have to wait until Wednesday to wear pink. I wear pink any day I feel like it and lately, it’s been all the time.

I have always loved the colour pink but my love for it has become more intense lately.  So much so that if I see anything pink, my instinct is to immediately get it.

Okay, enough about me. I want to turn this on you for a second, indulge me. When are you too old wear pink? Are you ever too old to wear pink?

I asked my followers on Instagram this question some months ago and the general consensus is that you’re never too old to wear pink. As for me, the jury is still out on that one. But interestingly enough, a week ago at the nail salon, I met an older lady in her late forties with short, hot pink hair.

She looked great, not at all juvenile like I would have imagined. Of course with her hair being so bright and colourful, she commanded some attention but she still looked classy and sophisticated. Maybe it was her designer handbag or her sneakers but she gave me something to mull over. Sometimes seeing is believing.

Pink may not have an age limit but surely it depends on how you wear it?

Here’s how to wear pink at any age
  • First of all, embrace it. The key to pulling anything off is confidence. If you aren’t comfortable about it, don’t wear it.
  • Be subtle. If you’re over the age of 30, people expect maturity. If you’re going to wear pink, don’t do pigtails, too much makeup or anything that’ll make you look like an overgrown baby. Just be subtle and classy.
  • If it’s too tight, ditch it! If it is ill-fitting and is one or two sizes too small then you have no business wearing it. Not unless you’re going for a ‘Pugsley’ look from Adam’s Family.
